As I drive away to go back home and leave baby Ezra in the very capable hands of his mommy and daddy, I have tears streaming down my face. ( really I'm sobbing like a baby) I could stay here with them forever. Yet, I have the rest of the family and other responsibilities at home waiting for me to come and take care of them now. I just find it so hard to leave and I don't ever want to let go of this sweet baby. I want to hold on to him forever!! It struck me, that this is how it is with God, once he has a hold of us he never wants to let us go.  Isn't that a great picture. He will never leave us or let go of us. He just keeps holding on wanting to stay with us forever. Happy Sunday. May you feel the Lord holding onto you today!!
I'm pretty sure he is saying "grandma, do you really have to go home today"

  1. Congrats on the new little one. We're in Texas but both sets of grandparents are in Ohio. I know it's hard for my mom to leave the little ones. Thanks for stopping by and you DON'T look old enough to be a grandma!

  2. Awww, Debbie. I can only imagine how you feel. I remember when my babies were babies and how my parents hated to leave and we only lived an hour away.

  3. Oh, Debbie! Don't be sad ~ I'm sure you'll be seeing him again very soon! Are you very far from them? I'll bet your daughter will be sending you lots of pictures and, I know that doesn't take the place of being there in person, but you'll be able to see his precious face in front of you everyday.

  4. I know. I know. Isn't it just the best being a grandma? I'm so happy for all of you and that little fella is just the cutest!! Of course, genetically speaking, he's blessed on all sides :)

  5. Oh, I can only imagine how hard it was to leave that little angel. I will be in this same position in about six months!!!

  6. Someday he will say, "Gamma don't goooo..."
Talk about hard to leave! My granddaughter just told me that today.

I told you your life will change. Have fun with your new way of thinking and living.

  7. Debbie
I'm so sorry that you have to leave your sweet new grandbaby. He is so adorable.

Mason and Alex are staying with us for a couple of months. I don't know what I will do when they leave. I may be calling you!!

  8. oh my goodness he's precious.... :)

no doubt you are so proud. :)

may your trip back to see him be soon!

  9. What a beautiful metaphor. This was such a lovely post. I can see that you are already a brilliant grandma-Ezra is very lucky indeed!

    Best wishes,

  10. Oh Debbie, I am crying for you having to leave that sweet grandbaby:( You'll keep the roads hot running back to see him REAL soon. Love the picture and yes God has his arms wrapped tightly around me:) HUGS and huge Sunday Blessings!

  11. Congrats on your new beautiful grandson!!!
    You all look so happy!!

  12. Debbie, that is exactly what Ezra was saying cause I think I heard him! It is a feeling you can't describe isn't it? And yes, what a wonderful picture you have given us at how our Lord never wants to let go of us! And the thing is....He doesn't let go of us but we tend to let go of Him at times! Thanks for this sweet reminder of a SWEET God we serve! Be blessed. Cindy

  13. A lovely thought, and a lovely family!

  14. It is so hard to leave the grand baby isn't it? We just came home yesterday from visiting ours in Nashville. I wish they lived close by so I could see them and hold them more often. I will have one close by in the fall though since my daughter is pregnant and lives much closer.

  15. He is so precious! Knowing that God feels the same way about us is so comforting!

  16. He is Adorable!! It would be extremely hard to leave him or even put him down when around. :-)
I have 3 grown boys and so looking forward to being a grandmother. But my son's will probably live somewhere else too. My middle son already lives in Chicago and my oldest will probably move south after grad school. 'Sigh'...
I love your honest, sweet writing and blog!!! Following and will be back soon. I'm sure you will teach me a lot about being an awesome grandmother!!

  17. That's so sad. Isn't a grandma entitled to stay with her daughter awhile (a week or two)? At least it's close enough to go over there for a weekend.
    Switching gears:
You asked me about my storyboard. Kendall had one on Finesse Your Nest. I just clicked on and looked at some of their help screens and such to make my own. I will be using it for my current client she wants to use gray in her bedrm. with warm tones. I say gray & yellow ;). Do you have other children at home?
