A bit of a slump

I have been in a bit of a slump the last  few weeks. Can't seem to get come up with an interesting topic
to blog about. It may be that I am just trying to adjust to two less children in the house or the busyness of life.  It might be that it is coming up on a year since my dad died and I miss him terribly. It could be that I just might need a break. What ever the case I hope you will bear with me as I figure it all out. On a brighter note, My Willow House business is off to a great start. (thank you sweet blog friends for placing orders).
When I get in these "moods", It is good for me to think about  all of the things I am thankful for.
So here is my list for today:
A hubby who works hard so I can have "playing" jobs
Coffee
Christmas Music that is already playing in our home
Spiced Pumpkin Candles
The beautiful fall colors in our neighborhood
Friends who "get" me
My "mom" friend Shirley who spoils me
Laughter
Friends who believe in me enough to refer their friends to me for decorating jobs
My Fluffy Down comforter, a luxurious piece of heaven on these colder nights
For my blogging friends who continue to visit and leave comments even when I can't get over to visit them.

I feel better already. It's hard to stay in a slump when we take the time to be grateful for all that we are blessed with.
We had a pastor once who asked us one Thanksgiving season to spend some time thanking God for all He has given us and then he asked us to make a list of 100 things we were thankful for. You could hear the gasp as people were thinking, how could I come up with a hundred things. Let me just say that as we worked on the list over the season it was easy to surpass 100 and just keep going.
So I challenge you to start your list this Thanksgiving season and then give thanks to the one it to whom thanks is due.

  1. Oh wow Debbie...I feel like you are talking to me...on a couple of levels. First, my Dad passed away five years ago this past October...actually it was the day before his birthday. Second, we are empty nesters now and all of our boys live in different states and cities so we don't get to see them as often as I'd like. The holidays have been different ever since and I still have periods of mourning our old way of life. Just when I think we can start to make plans and have some sort of expectations...our boys have other plans ;( Which in reality is FANTASTIC...cause we wanted to raise happy, healthy, independent young men who were contributors to society. I just have to get the Walton Family Scenario out of my head. Some days I'm better at it than others. Hope this helps and that I'm not out in left field here with my comment. Wishing you all the best, fondly, Roberta

  2. Debbie, I've been the same way the past few weeks.Another blogger also posted the same sentiments, so it must be going around. Not sure what it is...anticipation of the Holidays coming up and all that entails, preparing for winter, bad news that we hear ever day :/ Despite all of that I know how blessed I am and thank God every day for all the blessings we have!

  3. I love the saying on the pumpkin in the picture, "We give thanks to God."

I'm praying that the God of all hope will fill you with joy and the passion of His purpose for you. You are very loved (by HIM and many others I am sure) and precious and I am thankful for the opportunity to get to know you just a little bit here.

  5. Great way to get out of a funk. Yes, you are blessed. And it's OK to miss your Dad. I still do and it's been years.

  6. I've felt that way myself at times, Debbie.

On a totally different note, I was looking for the barley twist pedestal that I was sure I saw in your online Willow House catalog, when I won your giveaway. I was thinking about getting that, but I can't find it again.

  9. Take Care Debbie, you will pull through. Empty Nest or less around does make a big change and the time of year as well. My Dad died four years ago early next month and I still miss him terribly despite knowing that he was unhappy trapped in a Parkinson's body. Life can be cruel as you know only too well, please come back to visit us even if you do not feel inspired to post yourself.

  10. Hey Debbie. You were just on my mind and I wanted to stop in and see how your doing. You've been such a faithful friend to me and I've been away with MIL so much lately. I'm sorry that your in a bit of a slump now. Everyone needs a break sometimes. And I know the anniversary of your fathers death has to be so hard on you. You are in my prayers honey. May God keep you close and provide you time to rest and reflect. I pray you are comforted by Angels wings of protection.

    Love and hugs honey....Tracy :)
