Relax! Have Fun!
Hope everyone felt extra blessed this Thanksgiving weekend.
We spent a wonderful weekend with our daughter and her hubby. We had the best time. We helped them paint the new basement that includes a giant family room, a full bath, and an office/bedroom. We worked hard and laughed a lot! If you know us, laughing is what we do best! They are expecting our first grandchild in April and we are so excited! It was fun to see the ultrasound videos and talk about nursery decorating plans etc. We feel so blessed to have them include us in all of this.
This brings me to my point.
As Christmas approaches it seems the world goes into a sort of frenzy. Everyone becomes so wrapped up in what they feel are the "have tos" that we all forget to enjoy the simple moments of faith, family, and friendships. I can't help but think that if we would all just Relax and Refocus and get back to what is really important, the holiday season would be filled with the magic and wonder of our childhood memories. I for one am going to try this and quit trying to create the "perfect" Christmas. I love Christmas and have a zillion Christmas traditions. I have more decorations than anyone should have,I could open my own shop and fill it up I think. There is such a thing as going overboard. While all of the "stuff" of Christmas is fun and part of our traditions, the reason for this season is Jesus and for me, this is where the focus should be. Won't you join me in trying to relax and simplify this holiday season?
Don't forget: I am offering a 15% discount at lovethedecor.com through Tonight as a gift to you my faithful friends. There are many wonderful gift ideas and home decor products for you or anyone on your Christmas list. Extende thru Dec 4th

What a lovely post! I only do what I can. What doesn't get done, doesn't get done. I try my best but I can't make it perfect, never have made it perfect, and never will make it perfect!
ReplyDeleteGreat post - It is always nice to remember to relax and enjoy the moments!

I am trying really hard to finish what I am going to do and NOT worry about what I don't get done! I don't like gift bags at Christmas but am gonna get over that this year:) Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie!
ReplyDeleteYou must be going out of your mind in anticipation of the baby! Very fun!
I AGREE! If you can't enjoy what you are doing to make your season bright, you should cut back! Why do people let themselves get stressed out over this? It should be a fun time. No one expects one person to "do it all". I have a close friend who just stresses out beyond belief this time of year. I told her to just STOP! She's missing the point!
Just a reminder I have you signed up for the Dec Doors of Welcome. Yes? Let me know!
GREAT POST!
HAGD! karen

Enjoyed this post!!!!
ReplyDeleteSimple is the way we do it around here! We like to focus on the compassion and the love and the REAL reason for this whole hubbub! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog!!! I love the picture of the Jesus ornament. Your tree is simply divine!! I love your blog and am now a follower.
ReplyDeleteI would imagine doing something you love, decorating was the highlight on top of all the laughter to spend with your family! I love laughing!
ReplyDeleteYour post is so true. Just found out that all of A's activities are stopping until the new year, so thankfully we can breathe and take time out to just relax. This makes for a non-rushed month and holiday to say the least! I also couldn't imagine Jesus not being the focus on our holiday each and every year! Jesus' birth is a sight to behold and I for one cannot wait to make our creation for him on Christmas Eve and sing happy birthday too {we make a Jesus birthday cake every single year on Christmas Eve!}.
May you be blessed in the beautiful of today!

I love the ornament. Great post! Thanks for the heads up about the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more! I have given up on a perfect holiday..which is really just something we conjure up in our minds. Sounds like you had a great time with your daughter and son in law. That's so neat!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with everything you've said in this post - hard to keep the balance sometimes. Jesus is the reason, as we all know, and this is an excellent reminder! Thank you...
ReplyDeleteHow fun to help your daughter work on the basement and plan the nursery!
ReplyDeleteMy family is a "laughing" family too! Nothing feels better.
I loved this post.

ReplyDeleteB-R-E-A-T-H-E:) Relax and enjoy the season, my dear! I am trying to finish anything that needs to be done and have the last weeks to just enjoy the season. I love Christmas but it does seem as though we spend too many hours rushing around and don't have time to just ENJOY! Have a blessed day!
