Unplug and Just BE

I just returned from a wonderful few days away with my hubby. We went camping. Now I don't know what image comes up in your mind when you think of camping, but let me assure you, it is probably not  what we did. You see hubby loves to get way away from people which often means way away from things like, running water and bathrooms.(well there is running water if you count the river ) So off we went and found this lovely spot
You can just make out our tent on the left there

And this very similar to the"potty" for the weekend (ugh)
It was a nice enjoyable time, minus the icky bathroom situation and the chipmunk who kept trying to climb the tent in the night only to get half way up and literally side back down. (really) You would think after the fourth or fifth failed attempt he would have given up.
Even in spite of the "uncomfortable" parts of the trip. It was amazing to be surrounded by such beauty and hear the rushing sound of the river. No distractions, no agenda, (no makeup), just hubby and I, all alone(with 1 crazy chipmunk) enjoying the company of one another and the beauty of God's creation.
For those of you who commented that they thought of me as a girly girl....I really am, but once in awhile it's nice to unplug from all of that  and just "be". Hope you all have a wonderful day!

  6. Well ... those are gorgeous photos. Beautiful countryside, and I can understand the lure of unplugging and tuning out for a weekend.

But I also agree with my sister, who says about camping: "Why do people go out in the woods and pretend to be homeless?"

I admire those who can do the pee-in-the-bucket thing -- you are braver than I. It sounds like it was a wonderful getaway -- and it must be very romantic, just the two of you ... and that nutter chipmunk.

In his defense, he does have a very teeny brain.

  7. Oh' Debbie your post left me laughing. I can just picture that crazy chipmunk. I'm sure after the 4th or 5th time you were over laughing and getting no sleep. Those pictures are so pretty and relaxing. I've never camped out. If you lived in FL you'd know why. I just love WA. Wish I live there. What part or you from?

    Have a wonderful day, Sweetie. Hugs...Tracy :)

  9. What a glorious little spot for tent-camping. I gave up the tent idea many years ago, but The Man and I have been camping for a very long time.

I'd love to have you link up to my Simple Pleasures series some Thursday.

  10. That sooo pretty! I haven't been camping in a tent in ages. I'm not crazy about the bathroom situation outside of a camper though. I'm good with sweating and sleeping in a tent and no makeup, but I want a really potty. You're a brave woman!

  11. Ah nature! Beautiful! Don't get that kinda beauty around here, and certainly no pesky chipmunks. I can handle nature all day long, but not sure about all nite. :) Sounds like you got through just fine. Best wishes for a terrific Thursday. :) Tammy

  14. I love the part about no make up. That ALONE qualified is for a pleasure in my book. While I'm not jazzed about the toilet situation, I love the fresh freedom of living by a running stream or other calm body of water. My soul would have loved your simple pleasure, no matter WHAT my body would have said. Grin.

  17. My husband and I keep threatening to go camping but so far we haven't. Too busy moving house, buying cars, and now unpacking dozens and dozens of boxes and bins. One of these days we will. And we don't mind going without running water for a few days, we actually lived like that for a year, we're veterans!

And now I am off to take a look around your wonderful blog. I have finished unpacking the kitchen and the bathroom but there are several other rooms that need attention. Thank you for the inspiration!

Happy SITS Day! Enjoy the comment love today. Hanneke
